ELEMENTARY PROGRAM

The Elementary Program is designed to provide an active, hands-on learning environment for children in Grades Three to Six. Our mission is to achieve academic excellence in our students, while providing them with the tools to maintain a healthy, active, and balanced lifestyle.

Combining the key aspects of Nova Scotia Department of Education Learning Outcomes for Elementary Curriculum , and certain guiding principles of Ontario’s and Alberta’s Elementary Curriculum , students in Grades three to six benefit from a dynamic and enhanced academic curriculum while exploring a wide range of academic units through various methods including project-based learning . Drama, Art and French round out the elementary curriculum taught by teachers who have extensive training in those fields. Taught in modern classrooms, all lessons are differentiated to reach the specific goals, interests and learning styles of each student. The use of theme-based project learning provides motivation for students to extend their learning beyond traditional levels of the classroom, encouraging cooperative leadership skills and constructive, independent
learning. With optimum student-teacher ratios, students gain real-life connections that tie together school, home, community, and the world, teaching them to become global and critical thinkers and to find value and enjoyment in life-long learning.

The Elementary program also  empowers children, and all those involved with Newbridge Academy to practice
healthy, active lifestyles. It ensures that children have an awareness of  wholesome food to help them meet their nutritional needs, and provides the tools to develop healthy eating habits that can be maintained for life.
